Jane Remover drops M3F after Temper City dispute

Jane Remover is no longer set to perform at M3F Fest 2027 following a public dispute over fellow lineup act Temper City.

On August 5, Jane called on the Phoenix festival to remove Temper City from its lineup, citing alleged ties between the band and the Israel Defense Forces. In M3F’s newly updated lineup, Jane’s name has disappeared, while Temper City remains booked and Flying Lotus has been added.

M3F has not publicly explained Jane’s removal from the lineup.

The ultimatum

The dispute began publicly on August 5, when Jane Remover posted an Instagram Story tagging M3F and issuing a direct ultimatum:

“yo get that idf band off the lineup or I'm not playing”

The festival’s updated poster now appears to reflect the latter outcome. Jane is no longer listed among the performers, while Temper City remains on the list.

Flying Lotus has also since been added to the lineup.

While the change follows Jane’s public statement, neither M3F nor Jane has publicly confirmed the exact circumstances behind the lineup change in reporting published so far.

M3F Fest is scheduled to take place March 5–6, 2027, in Phoenix, Arizona.

Why Jane called out Temper City

Jane’s criticism centers on Temper City frontman Eytan Peled, who has publicly discussed previously serving in the Israel Defense Forces, according to reporting from NME and Resident Advisor.

That history appears to be the basis of Jane’s characterization of Temper City as an “idf band” in the Instagram post.

Peled’s past military service, however, does not by itself establish any current institutional relationship between Temper City and the IDF. The controversy surrounding M3F is ultimately rooted in Jane’s objection to the booking and the festival’s decision to keep the band on its lineup.

Why Temper City was already controversial

Temper City had attracted online attention even before the M3F dispute.

The band broke through with their first-ever single “Self Aware,” which gained significant traction on TikTok before reaching No. 1 on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart. Their rapid rise has also brought major festival bookings, including Austin City Limits in October 2026 and M3F in March 2027.

That unusually fast trajectory has led some listeners online to accuse the group of being an “industry plant,” a label often used when an artist appears to gain major industry support unusually early in their career.

There is currently no evidence establishing that Temper City is an industry plant, however. Viral success, chart performance and major bookings alone do not prove coordinated industry manufacturing, and Jane Remover’s criticism of the band has specifically focused on Peled’s IDF service rather than its rise within the music industry.

Where things stand

For now, the lineup tells the clearest story: Jane Remover is out, Temper City is still scheduled to perform, and Flying Lotus has joined the bill.

None of the parties involved have publicly offered a detailed explanation for what happened behind the scenes.

Unless M3F, Jane Remover, or Temper City address the dispute further, it remains unclear whether the festival plans to respond directly to Jane’s criticism or simply move forward with its current lineup.
